First Quarter
Wow, the students learned a lot during our first quarter. The first weeks, we focused on greetings, calendar, weather, day of the week, months of the year. The following weeks, our focuses were colors, numbers, alphabet, clothing and more.
First quarter, students earned a reward and celebrated with “churros” and a Spanish movie. Everyone enjoyed it. This class is working very hard to get their second reward as a class. I am very proud of their hard work.

Last week, we learned about Las frutas (Fruits)
children enjoyed learning phrases such as "Mi fruta favorita es ______., No me gusta, Si me gusta" (My favorite fruit is, I like and I don't like) and much more. Enjoy the video
The Rosca the Reyes was good. Students enjoyed sharing and learnign about The Three Kings. The also learned about how is January 6th Celebrations important to the Hispanic community.
Occupations in Spanish
This week, we learned about different occupations and a little bit of the verb to be in the present tense (I am, he is and she is). In Spanish: Yo soy, el es and ella es. Here is a small video clip of your children communicating in the target language.

The months of the year
We learned the moths of the year in Spanish
Third and Fifth graders are welcomed to this elective.
This elective focuses on students's oral, reading, writing and comprehension skills in Spanish. With a big emphasis in oral and comprehension skills. Throughout the year students are exposed to many culture activities such songs, dances, videos, games, field trips and Spanish performances. They also learn basic facts about Spain, Latin-American countries and Guinea Equatorial. Math, Science, Art and Geography are integrated in the Spanish curriculum. This elective is a continuation of K-2 Spanish studies and the entry point for 3-5 students who are beginning to study the language.
