Field trip to the Bakery
Parents and visitors, our field trip to the bakery was a tremendous success. The students were totally engaged in learning how to make "pan and galletas" (bread-cookies). These last two weeks, we focused on the community. Studetns learned about places in the community and community helpers. We also learned how to say what do we want to be when we grow up. see video

Every month, we celebrate our Estudiante Estrella. Las month she was our Star Student. Bravo!

This week, we learned body parts. The students enjoyed singing and recognizing body parts in class.
Estudiante estrella-Noviembre
She is very excited to be our "estudiante estrella" (Start Student). Every month a student is selected as "estudiante estrella". She is always ready to learn and she also loves to sing.
First Quarter
First quarter went by quickly. The students and I have a great time. Everyone in class has adjusted gratefully to the pace of the class. Students are slowly learning how to read in Spanish, increasing vocabulary and also learning how to use small basic sentences in conversation with other students in class and teacher.
This quarter, we learned how to use greetings, and feelings (I am). The students learned how to use” Yo estoy”

Every day, I enjoy students coming to me and express how they are feeling in Spanish. Continuing I students come to me and tell me things like "Señora Henderson, Yo estoy enferma" Great job!
The class also reviewed and learned numbers up to 30 and counted from 10 to 100 daily. Colors were also reviewed. Daily, we review days of the week, months of the year, seasons and greetings. The students are encouraged to come to the front of the class and lead the rest of the students into counting and singing the day of the week song (Sol solecito). Please ask children to sing for you

This quarter, we also learned the alphabet. The students enjoyed singing the Military song of the alphabet in Spanish. See video
Last week, we learned about the clothing. The students were encouraged to participate in educational games to help them learning the vocabulary. The last two weeks of first quarter will be used to continue learning about clothing and weather. The students will increase vocabulary words associated with clothing and weather.
Next week, the students will be taking their work home. Please review it with your child.

First full week
Our first full week of Spanish has ended. The students did very well. They learned and practiced:
Greetings: Hola, ¿Cómo estas? ¿Cómo te llamas?
Farewells: Adiós, Hasta luego, nos vemos
Numbers: from 1 to 20 and 10 by 10 to 50

This course is a continuation of the curriculum presented in Continuing Spanish I; however, the students will find an increased focus on writing, reading, geography, art, science and math in the curriculum. At this level, students participate in a field trip experience. They are expected to use their Spanish language skills to communicate with others in the community.
Students practiced some greetings in Spanish class.
This class is offered to First and second graders that have sucessfully completed Continuing Spanish I. The elective is a year long.
